Comments: Norths overcame a slow start to
claim the club’s first premier grade trophy since their 1980
Brisbane Rugby League triumph over Souths. The Panthers came out
strongly and raced to an early 16-0 lead after 24 minutes of play.
The Devils started turning things around late in the first half
and went into the break down 16-6 but confident they could get
Wests’ measure in the second half. They did just that and once
their forwards got on a roll, the Devils’ backs simply carved up
the Panthers’ defence at will to run out convincing winners.
Winger Matt Geyer snared a hat trick of tries as the Devils tasted
1st grade success for the first time in 18 years.
