Well what can you say about this game?
Fantastic stuff. That's rugby league at
it's best. Who says all the good games
happen in the NRL? It had everything.
Superb attacking skills from both sides,
controversy and a great comeback. Simply
put it, Norths choked and somehow
Burleigh pull of a miraculous victory.
The winner of today's match had a chance
to have a crack at Redcliffe for a chance
for a place in the grand final so it was
an important match for both sides.
Well, Norths seemed to have it won at the
55th minute when they scored a try to go
ahead 30-10. But a doubtful Aaron Douglas
try started a Burleigh revival. Burleigh
kicked ahead straight and Douglas came
charging through to regather the ball. He
did but he didn't force the ball down
properly. However, the referee awarded the try.
Burleigh then scored two more tries and
each one in great fashion. Former North
Queensland player, Reggie Cressbrook
finally dived over for the match winning
try with one minute to go and the Bears
had snatched a crucial victory.
Now Burleigh plays Redcliffe at Dolphin
Oval, next Saturday. They would have to
be confident after that win but the
Dolphins will be no pushover. As for
Norths, they now play the winner of
tomorrow's match between Toowoomba and
Easts. After leading 30-10 and seemed to
have Burleigh's measure, they should have
won. But now, the Devils now have to play
a sudden death match next week and that
heart breaking loss may have an effect on
their confidence.
