Redcliffe Dolphins 28
Tries:
Dave Warry 2, Trent Clayton, Mixie Liu, Shane Sanderson
Goals: Michael Roberts 4
defeated Norths Devils 16
Tries:
Mark Protheroe, Mark Shillington, Matt Rua
Goals: John Wilshere, Brad Watts
Venue:
Dolphin Oval
Date: Sat March 13

Ref:
Tony Maksoud
Half time:
Redcliffe 18-10
Chris' Comments: Norths started the stronger, scoring a try in the first 5 minutes following a brilliant 40-20 kick. Redcliffe replied quickly after a shocking error from Norths fullback Michael Rhodes who failed to clean up a kick in goal.  Norths had 29 tackles in a row on Redcliffe's line before Shillington scored for a 10-6 lead.  Redcliffe scored a great try quickly after and an intercept on half time gave them an undeserved 18-10 lead.  The Dolphins extended their lead in the second half with an early try, and then another to all but seal the game at 28-10.  Rua scored a great try with 20 minutes left to get back to 28-16, but when the touch judge wrongly disallowed a second try to Mark Protheroe with 10 to go, it was all over.  Add the intercept, touchie error and bombed try to Norths early in the second half and the scoreline would've been very, very different.

Cairns Cyclones 40
Tries: Scott Mahon 2, Scott Donald 2, Michael Coorey, Paul Fowler, Shannon Van Balen, Leon Yeatman
Goals: Denny Lambert 3, Adam Connelly
defeated Souths Magpies 0
Venue: Barlow Park
Date: Sat March 13

Wests Panthers 17
Tries: Kelly Hutley, Jason Bulgarelli, Robert Campbell
Goals: George Gatis 2
Field Goal: Robert Campbell
defeated Logan City Scorpions 4
Tries:
Neil Shave
Venue: Meakin Park
Date: Sun March 14
Chris' Comments: Very scrappy contest apparently, pre-season champions Wests simply making fewer errors than Logan.

Burleigh Bears 40
Tries:
Faron Anderson 3, Aaron Douglas, Frank Napoli, Dean Allen, Tony Priddle, Ali Davys
Goals: Ben Lythe 4
defeated Wynnum Seagulls 14
Tries:
David Seage, Brad Nairn
Goals: Dean Moon 3
Venue: Kougari Oval
Date:
Sun March 14
Chris' Comments: High quality performance from Burleigh beating preseason runners up.  Bears will figure in the final 6 for sure if they can maintain this form.

Easts Tigers 52
Tries: Brett McPherson 2, Jabin Picker, Chris Beattie, Jeff Doyle, Scott Thorburn, Dion Cope, Andrew Neave, Aaron Durrant
Goals: Scott Thorburn 8
defeated Ipswich Jets 10
Tries: Scott Ward, Paul Wilkinson
Goals: Chris Lawler
Venue: Langlands Park
Date:
Sun March 14
Chris' Comments: Dominant performance from an Easts side strengthened by the signings of ex-ARL players Scott Thorburn and Andrew Neave.

Toowoomba Clydesdales 42
Tries:
John Driscoll 3, Adam Warwick, Paul Weber, Shane Walker, Damon Keating, Cameron Hamblin
Goals: Adam Warwick 5
defeated Central Capras 14
Tries: Heath Egglestone, Brad Neven, Andrew Bell
Goals: Graham White
Venue: Warwick
Date: Sun March 14
Chris' Comments: Driscoll had a blinder, making a charge for the Broncos hooking spot.  Shane Walker also making claims for a first grade spot.  18-year-old rugby union convert Adam Warwick made a huge impression, and he looks to be the new star of the future at the Broncos.
