1999 Queensland Cup
Round 11: May 29, 30

1999 Queensland Cup information is thanks to BroncoNet.

Cairns Cyclones 30
Tries: Greg Bourke 2, Shane Muspratt, Nathan Fein, Chad Halliday
Goals: Greg Bourke 5
defeated Easts Tigers 20
Tries: Peter Turner 2, Jeff Doyle, Joe Taylor
Goals: Matt Anderton 2
Venue: Langlands Park
Date: Sat May 29

Chris' Comments: A highly entertaining but error riddled encounter.  There were some magnificent tries scored, and some wonderful kicking from Easts' Scott Thorburn.  Four times in the second half he unleashed perfectly executed 40-20 kicks.  Only poor handling prevented them from getting over the line.

Wests Panthers 30
Tries: Jamie McDonald, Robert Campbell, Craig Bowen, Jason Bulgarelli, Michael Price
Goals: James Brown 3, Nathan Burke 2
defeated Wynnum Seagulls 28
Tries: Matt Fisher 2, David Seage 2, Danny Grimley
Goals: Alan Glyde 4
Venue: Purtell Park
Date: Sat May 29
Chris' Comments: A spirited performance from the Seagulls who have been demoralised this season.  Wests continue their patchy form but maintain a top 5 spot.

Logan City Scorpions 52
Tries: Grant Dutton 2, Terry O'Regan 2, Neil Shave 2, Scott Maguire, Brendon Lindsay, Brett Simmonds, Royce Simms
Goals: Scott Maguire 6
defeated Souths Magpies 6
Tries: Peter Pulou
Goals: Andrew Murdoch
Venue: Davies Park
Date: Sat May 29
Chris' Comments: Logan have moved into the top 5 with this romp.  The Scorpions are having their best season in recent memory and their attacking flair is up there with Redcliffe and Norths.
Matt's Comments: Maybe it's their Canterbury link for the remarkable improvement at Logan  :).

Norths Devils 36
Tries: Steve Bell, Matt Dux, Craig Smith, Kevin Carmichael, Mark Protheroe, Matt Bickerstaff
Goals: John Wilshere 6
defeated Ipswich Jets 22
Tries: Darren Smeath, Stephen Boothby, Dale Robertson
Goals: Chris Lawler 5
Venue: First Provincial Oval
Date: Sat May 29.
Chris' Comments: Another spirited effort from the Jets falls short.  Ipswich can't be accused of throwing in the towel.  All season they've given it their all but are just outclassed.  Norths continue their push for back to back titles.

Redcliffe Dolphins 32
Tries: Trent Clayton 4, Ricky Hewinson, Damien Richters, James Hinchey
Goals: Michael Roberts 2
defeated Central Capras 14
Tries: Heath Eggleston 2, Sime Busby
Goals: Graham White
Venue: Browne Park
Date: Sat May 29
Chris' Comments: Central were disappointing in this match, with many thinking they'd give the Dolphins a real shake.  Redcliffe maintain top spot on the ladder with a very strong performance, with Trent Clayton moving to the top of the try scorers list with 4.

Burleigh Bears 38
Tries: Jamie Mahon 2, Graham Lyons, Frank Napoli, Craig Freer, Bill Dunn, Tony Priddle
Goals: Ben Lythe 5
defeated Toowoomba Clydesdales 20
Tries: Craig Frawley, Ashley Harrison, Andrew Robinson, Carl Webb
Goals: Adam Warwick 2
Venue: Pizzey Park
Date: Sun May 30
Chris' Comments: Toowoomba continue to struggle with the drain on their resources from the Broncos.  Burleigh bounced back from their loss to Redcliffe last round in the best way possible and are still considered premiership favourites by many.  The Clydesdales' woes will only worsen this week, with the Broncos certain to call in at least 4 more players with the Origin stars missing.
