1999 Queensland Cup
Round 13: June 12, 13

1999 Queensland Cup information is thanks to BroncoNet.

Easts Tigers 26
Tries: Scott Thorburn 2, Chris Beattie, Peter Turner, Jeff Doyle
Goals: Scott Thorburn 3
defeated Wests Panthers 24
Tries: Craig Smith 2, Jason Campbell, Robert Campbell
Goals: James Brown 4
Venue: Purtell Park
Date: Sat June 12
Chris' Comments: An enthralling contest, both sides were willing to throw the ball around and as a result there were some riveting tries scored.  Rob Campbell deservedly won the man of the match award despite being on the losing side, setting up two and scoring one try himself.  Scott Thorburn was outstanding and deserves a recall to NRL level.

Toowoomba Clydesdales 32
Tries: Carl Webb 2, Denis White 2, Adam Warwick, Luke Priddis
Goals: Jace Van Dijk 4
defeated Redcliffe Dolphins 12
Tries: Adam Mogg, Simon Kane
Goals: Ricky Hewinson, Michael Roberts
Venue: Bassett Park, Roma
Date: Sat June 12
Chris' Comments: You little ripper! :)  Not many sweeter sights than Redcliffe going down, and for the second time this year against Toowoomba.  The Clydesdales are the only side to knock off the Dolphins, boosted this week with the inclusion of Luke Priddis and John Plath.  The loss drops Redcliffe to second behind Burleigh.

Ipswich Jets 40
Tries: Brian McCarthy 2, Craig Wehrman, Russell Bussian, Stephen Boothby, Dale Robertson, Scott Morris, Heath McQueen
Goals: Chris Lawler 4
defeated Souths Magpies 12
Tries: Darren Lawson, Luke Donald
Goals: Andrew Murdoch 2
Venue: First Provincial Oval
Date: Sat June 12
Chris' Comments: Ipswich have struggled all season, but were far too good for the hapless Souths.  The poor old Magpies are now languishing 4 points clear at the bottom of the ladder, Ipswich saving themselves from that embarrassment.

Burleigh Bears 34
Tries: Aaron Douglas 3, Faron Anderson 2, Shane O'Flanagan
Goals: Ben Lythe 5
defeated Cairns Cyclones 20
Tries: Scott Donald, Nathan Fein, Chad Prien, Chris Muckert
Goals: Scott Mahon, Nathan Fein
Venue: Pizzey Park
Date: Sat June 12
Chris' Comments: Burleigh took outright leadership with this solid, hard fought win against Cairns.  The Cyclones are far from easy beats and the win gives Burleigh a good stepping stone for their clash with Easts next week at Langlands Park.  Aaron Douglas continues to carve up every team in the competition, landing another three tries.

Logan Scorpions 28
Tries: Phil Shilvock 2, Terry O'Regan, Brendon Lindsay, Royce Simms
Goals: Scott Maguire 4
defeated Central Capras 26
Tries: Graham White 2, Heath Egglestone, Craig Allen, Graeme Kemp
Goals: Graham White 3
Venue: Browne Park
Date: Sat June 12
Chris' Comments: Logan were very lucky to escape with this victory, which puts them just 2 points out of the top 5 and only 1 point behind Wests in sixth.  The Capras have been inconsistent all season and once again have fallen short of what seemed a likely win.

Wynnum Seagulls 37
Tries: Matt Fisher 2, Lance Cronk, Alan Glyde, Brett Bowman, Ricky Taylor, Grant Benson
Goals: Alan Glyde 4
Field Goals: Ricky Taylor
defeated Norths Devils 24
Tries: Brad Watts, Tasesa Lavea, Wade Fenton, Brett O'Farrell
Goals: Brad Watts 2, John Wilshere 2
Venue: Bishop Park
Date: Sun June 13
Chris' Comments: Norths are experiencing the same syndrome that afflicts NRL clubs whose coaches have representative spots.  With Mark Murray away on Queensland duty, Norths have slipped well and truly off the pace with the leaders, and to lose to cellar dwellers Wynnum makes their job even harder to get back.  Norths winger Craig Smith will have nightmares about the intercept pass he threw when deep in attack with the score at 24-24.
