1999 Queensland Cup
Round 14: June 19, 20

1999 Queensland Cup information is thanks to BroncoNet.

Easts Tigers 22
Tries: Chris Beattie, Jeff Doyle, Dion Cope, Jabin Picker
Goals: Scott Thorburn 3
drew with Burleigh Bears 22
Tries: Jamie Mahon, Aaron Douglas, Frank Napoli, Faron Anderson
Goals: Ben Lythe 3
Venue: Langlands Park
Date: Sat June 19
Chris' Comments: An absolute thriller!  Both sides were guilty of some fundamental errors in the first half, with Burleigh completing just 50% of their sets.  As a result, Easts led 10-6 at half time, before Burleigh hit back early in the second half to lead 16-10.  Easts came back to lead 18-16 with just 7 minutes left and it appeared they had the game won.  But Burleigh scored a great try with Aaron Douglas with 3 minutes left to lead 22-18.  Easts then went the length of the field, with Chris Beattie scoring in the corner from dummy half.  Scott Thorburn couldn't produce the miracle kick this time.

Toowoomba Clydesdales 44
Tries: Lote Tuqiri 3, Shaun Berrigan 2, Adam Warwick, John Plath, Luke Priddis
Goals: Scott Kuhnemann 4, Adam Warwick 2
defeated Ipswich Jets 32
Tries: Brian McCarthy 3, Craig Wehrman, Brad Bulow
Goals: Chris Lawler 6
Venue: Sullivan Oval, Stanthorpe
Date: Sat June 19
Chris' Comments: Two players sent off, one for each side. It created an open, flowing game of football. Toowoomba were well aided by Broncos Lote Tuqiri, Shaun Berrigan, Luke Priddis and John Plath, scoring 28 of the Clydesdales 44 points.

Wests Panthers 34
Tries: Craig Smith 2, James Brown, Michael Price, Craig Bowen, George Gatis, David Fuller
Goals: James Brown 3
defeated Souths Magpies 6
Tries: Geoff Black
Goals: Andrew Murdoch
Venue: Davies Park
Date: Sat June 19
Chris' Comments: Souths' woeful season continues, and the Panthers get back on track after last weekend's tragic loss to Easts.  The Panthers need every point they can get to secure a top 5 spot.

Cairns Cyclones 40
Tries: Leon Yeatman 2, Chad Prien, Paul Dezolt, Paul Fowler, Nathan Fein, Ben Heath, Greg Bourke
Goals: Greg Bourke 4
defeated Central Capras 16
Tries: Jason Allen, Heath Egglestone, Graeme Kemp, Craig Allen
Venue: Barlow Park
Date: Sat June 19
Chris' Comments: Central have really come off the rails, and Cairns are still in the hunt for a finals spot, although it's most unlikely.

Norths Devils 44
Tries: Daniel Frame 3, Wade Fenton, Tristan Brady-Smith, Steve Bell, Matt Dux, Craig Smith
Goals: John Wilshere 6
defeated Logan Scorpions 16
Tries: Grant Dutton, Terry O'Regan, Herman Lafaele
Goals: Grant Dutton 2
Venue: Meakin Park
Date: Sun June 20
Chris' Comments: The defending premiers needed to stop a two game losing streak, and they did it in style with a huge win over Logan. The Scorpions needed a win to stay in touch with the top 5, but were never in the hunt against a far superior opponent. Norths remain in the top 3.

Wynnum Seagulls 22
Tries: Matt Fisher 3, David Seage, Danny Grimley
Goals: Alan Glyde
drew with Redcliffe Dolphins 22
Tries: Ricky Hewinson, Luke Scott, Wayne Miller, Michael Roberts
Goals: Michael Roberts 3
Venue: Kougari Oval
Date: Sun June 20
Chris' Comments: Wynnum's revival is remarkable. They had won just one game in the first 9 weeks, but have come back strongly with some great performances. If last week's win over defending premiers Norths was a confidence boost, getting a draw against the red hot premiership favourites Redcliffe will do them the world of good. The Seagulls can regain some pride in themselves for the last 8 rounds of the competition.
