1999 Queensland Cup
Round 15: June 26, 27

1999 Queensland Cup information is thanks to BroncoNet.

Norths Devils 52
Tries:
Tasesa Lavea 2, John Wilshere, Craig Smith, Kevin Carmichael, Daniel Frame, Matt Bickerstaff, Dale Williams, Peter Robinson
Goals: John Wilshere 8
d
efeated Cairns Cyclones 20
Tries:
Adam Connolly, Greg Bourke, Michael Coorey, Nathan Fein
Goals: Adam Connolly, Greg Bourke
Venue:
Bishop Park
Date:
Sat June 26

Chris' Comments: Cairns were never in the hunt. Norths had a strong wind at their backs and after Cairns scored the first try, the Devils ran rampant.  They led 28-6 at half time and went on with the job in the second half.

Wests Panthers 26
Tries:
Michael Price, Aaron Morgan, George Gatis, David Fuller, Clint Zammit
Goals: Josh Hannay 3
d
efeated Ipswich Jets 24
Tries:
Dale Robertson 2, Darren Smeath, Craig Wehrman
Goals:
Chris Lawler 4
Venue:
First Provincial Oval
Date:
Sat June 26
Chris' Comments: Wests escaped with this match with a late try against the ever improving Ipswich.  The Panthers are still hovering in equal 5th but don't look to have the domination of the other top 5 sides.  A lot of room for improvement, and no better place to start than against first place Burleigh this Saturday.

Easts Tigers 16
Tries:
Brendon Liston, Jabin Picker, Jeff Doyle
Goals: Scott Thorburn 2
d
efeated Central Capras 12
Tries:
Heath Egglestone, Jason Allen
Goals:
Graham White 2
Venue:
Browne Park
Date:
Sat June 26
Chris' Comments: Central continue their nuisance value in the competition, troubling the top sides week in week out.  They serve as a good wake up call to the contenders.  They should have little trouble with Souths this weekend.

Toowoomba Clydesdales 32
Tries: Craig Frawley, Denis White, Jace Van Dijk, Brad Meyers, Damon Keating, Dennis Dempsey
Goals: Jace Van Dijk 4
d
efeated Wynnum Seagulls 26
Tries: Matt Fisher 2, David Seage 2, Lance Cronk
Goals: Chris Reberger 2, Scott Dunshea
Venue: Athletic Oval
Date: Sat June 26
Chris' Comments: Toowoomba recovered from the loss of Adam Warwick last week to beat a resurgent Wynnum.  The Clydesdales are now entrenched in fourth spot but a loss can just as quickly leave them in sixth. They face the in form and improving Logan this week in a real test of their credentials.

Burleigh Bears 44
Tries: Aaron Douglas 2, Faron Anderson, Grant Adamson, Ben Lythe, Bill Dunn, Shane O'Flanagan, Brock Anderson
Goals: Ben Lythe 6
d
efeated Souths Magpies 0
Venue: Pizzey Park
Date: Sat June 26
Chris' Comments: Is this a surprise?  Burleigh are setting themselves the difficult task of winning their last 7 matches to hold the minor premiership.  It's a great challenge, and this easy win against wooden spooners Souths is a good stepping stone.

Redcliffe Dolphins 24
Tries:
Adam Mogg 2, Mixie Lui, Craig O'Dwyer
Goals: Michael Roberts 4
d
efeated Logan Scorpions 18
Tries:
Phil Shilvock 2, Royce Simms
Goals:
Scott Maguire 3
Venue:
Dolphin Oval
Date:
Sun June 27
Chris' Comments: A golden opportunity wasted by Logan City.  The Scorpions shocked Redcliffe to lead 18-0 at one stage, but let the Dolphins out of jail.  Premiership favourites Redcliffe scored 24 unanswered points to secure a win.  Much to their relief they stay in touch with Burleigh and three points ahead of defending champions Norths.
