1999 Queensland Cup
Round 19: July 24, 25

1999 Queensland Cup information is thanks to BroncoNet.

Burleigh Bears 26
Tries:
Aaron Douglas, Peter Lima, Craig Freer, Hamish Smith, Frank Johnston
Goals:
Ben Lythe 3
defeated
Norths Devils 10
Tries:
Matt Bickerstaff, Dale Williams
Goals:
John Wilshere
Venue:
Bishop Park
Date: Sat July 24
Chris' Comments: With St George fans in town, Tony Priddle fired Burleigh up for a fantastic victory over Norths. In an absolute quagmire with one particularly deep puddle, both sides showed tremendous skill and some great free flowing football.  Burleigh were far too good on the day however, and extended their lead on Norths.  A win would've put Norths ahead of Burleigh into second place a point behind Redcliffe.

Ipswich Jets 30
Tries:
Craig Green 2, Chris Lawler, Jason Twist, Craig Teevan
Goals:
Chris Lawler 5
defeated
Central Capras 12
Tries:
Clint Rothery, Stu Cheffirs
Goals:
Peter McLaughlin, Graham White
Venue:
First Provincial Oval
Date: Sat July 24
Chris' Comments: Ipswich's late season form reversal continued with a strong win over Central Qld.  The Jets now leapfrog the Capras into third last.

Redcliffe Dolphins 28
Tries:
Adam Mogg 2, Rod West 2, Trent Leis
Goals:
Michael Roberts 4
defeated
Wests Panthers 14
Tries:
Shaun Ireland, Peter Liddell
Goals:
George Wilson 3
Venue:
Dolphin Oval
Date: Sun July 25
Chris' Comments: Redcliffe were far too good for Wests in this game.  The Dolphins know the minor premiership is in their hands, and were not going to let the Panthers get past them in this game.  The Dolphins are now primed for the Round 20 showstopper against Burleigh on Sunday in a clash that will determine the minor premiership.

Easts Tigers 18
Tries:
Dion Cope 2, Jeff Doyle
Goals:
Scott Thorburn 3
defeated
Wynnum Seagulls 10
Tries:
Brett Bowman, Matt Fisher
Goals:
Gene Ngamu
Venue:
Kougari Oval
Date: Sun July 25
Chris' Comments: Wynnum presented a real danger game for Easts, as a loss would've left the Tigers four points out of the top 5 and with no chance to make it.  They managed to beat the ever improving Wynnum in a tight contest.

Toowoomba Clydesdales 56
Tries:
Chris Walker 2, Tony Duggan 2, Craig Frawley 2, Denis White, Jace Van Dijk, Dane Carlaw, Carl Webb
Goals:
Jace Van Dijk 8
defeated
Souths Magpies 16
Tries:
Clinton Toopi 2, Matt McCosker
Goals:
Matt Lockyer 2
Venue:
Athletic Oval
Date: Sun July 25
Chris' Comments: A couple of wonderful things came out of this otherwise predictable result.  The first was the return to form of Broncos centre Chris Walker.  Walker has struggled with injury all season but a crisis of confidence seems to have been overcome in his two try effort against the Magpies.  On the other side of the fence, Matt Lockyer has made his first real contribution in the Queensland Cup, kicking two goals for Souths. Matt is the younger brother of Darren, and is earmarked for great things, along with their youngest brother Russell who is coming through the junior grades at a rapid rate.

Cairns Cyclones 18
Tries:
Adam Connolly, Chris Shepherd, Wade Bachman
Goals:
Greg Bourke 3
defeated
Logan Scorpions 16
Tries:
Phil Shilvock, Terry O'Regan, Brett Simmonds, Darren Crilley
Venue:
Meakin Park
Date: Sun July 25
Chris' Comments: The finals race is down to 6.  Logan's defeat here leaves them 5 points out of the top 5 with just 3 rounds left.  They would need to win all three remaining games, and depend on Easts to lose 2 of their last 3, and Wests to lose all their last 3 to qualify.
