Round 7: April 24, 25

1999 Queensland Cup information is thanks to BroncoNet.

Redcliffe Dolphins 38
Tries: Adam Mogg 2, Trent Clayton 2, James Hinchey, Ben Roedder, Michael Roberts
Goals: Michael Roberts 5
defeated Easts Tigers 18
Tries: Chris Beattie, Jabin Picker, Kerry Carmichael, Brett McPherson
Goals: Brett McPherson
Venue: Langlands Park
Date: Sat Apr 25
Chris' Comments: Two of the greatest tries I've ever seen in this match.  The first was started by Redcliffe's Ricky Hewinson.  He took a bomb 5 out from his own line and beat the two chasers all ends up. He then swerved up field, swerving left and right and turning the defence around.  He looked to be able to go all the way before finally being tackled, offloading to Trent Clayton who scored.  Easts did a similar thing in the second half, with their fullback taking a kick five out and getting to half way, passing to support allowing Kerry Carmichael to sprint away.  Very entertaining game that Redcliffe led 38-4 until they allowed three late tries in the final 10 minutes.

Northern Suburbs Devils 76
Tries: Tristan Brady-Smith 3, Aseri Laing 2, Steve Bell, John Wilshire, Kevin Carmichael, Mark Protheroe, Wade Fenton, Anthony Bonus, Matt Bickerstaff, Mark Shillington, Andrew Duncan
Goals: John Wilshire 7, Brad Watts 3
defeated Souths Magpies 12
Tries: Nathan Squassoni, Andrew Murdoch
Goals: Matthew Bond 2
Venue: Davies Park
Date: Sat Apr 24
Chris' Comments: What more needs to be said?

Wests Panthers 26
Tries: Jason Campbell, Robert Campbell, George Gatis, John Toelupi, Craig Smith
Goals: Scott Williamson 3
defeated Central Queensland Capras 22
Tries: Jason Allen, Heath Egglestone, Andrew Bell, Kere Parata
Goals: Graham White 3
Venue: Purtell Park
Date: Sat Apr 24
Chris' Comments: Wests are still struggling for form.  A win is a win though, and they'll be hoping to improve on that next weekend.

Burliegh Bears 48
Tries: Aaron Douglas 3, Craig Freer, Hamish Smith, Shane O'Flanagan, Tony Priddle, Meti Noovao
Goals: Ben Lythe 7, Craig Freer
defeated Ipswich Jets 17
Tries: Craig Wehrman, Chris Lawler, Craig Teevan
Goals: Chris Lawler 2
Field-Goals: Chris Lawler
Venue: Pizzey Park
Date: Sun Apr 25
Chris' Comments: Ipswich troubled the Bears early, leading 17-10 at half time I think.  Burleigh cruised away in the second half and won easily in the end for their 7th straight victory.

Wynnum Seagulls 20
Tries: Brett Bowman, Alan Glyde, Danny Grimley, Greg Eagle
Goals: Anthony Choice 2
defeated Logan City Scorpions 18.
Tries: Ryan Russell, Brendon Lindsay, Royce Simms
Goals: Scott Maguire 3
Venue: Meakin Park
Date: Sun Apr 25
Chris' Comments: Wynnum celebrated this like it was the Grand Final!  The embattled Seagulls have struggled all season, so any win is a good win.

Toowoomba Clydesdales 22
Tries: Adam Warwick, Brad Thompson, John Driscoll, Tonie Carroll
Goals: Adam Warwick 3
defeated Cairns Cyclones 18
Tries: Adam Connolly, Peter Stimson, Paul Pensisi
Goals: Adam Connolly 3
Venue: Dairy Farmers Stadium
Date: Sun Apr 25
Chris' Comments: Toowoomba returned to the winners list, showing that at least one Broncos side can win against the Cowboys!  Tonie Carroll scored a protest try after Wayne Bennett dropped him from first grade.
