Venue: Langlands Park
Date:
Sunday August 6
Referee: Tony Maksoud
Half-time: Easts 16-6
Comments: Easts have eliminated the
defending premiers Burleigh from the Bundy Gold Cup
semi-finals with a convincing win at Langlands Park.
Led in attack by their captain Jeff Doyle and inside
backs, Scott Thorburn and Brett McPherson, the Tigers
easily overcame the sometime fragile Burleigh defence.
The Bears half-back Grant Adamson was the stand-out
player in the side but Easts proved to be too strong
at the end of the day. The Tigers led 16-6 at
half-time and scored 20 points in the second half to
keep their premiership chances alive. Half-back
Brett McPherson scored a classic try in the first half
taking a pass from Aseri Laing who made a 40 metre
burst through the Burleigh defence. Easts now
meet Redcliffe in next week's preliminary final at
Dolphin Oval in who will face Toowoomba in the Grand
Final.
