2000 Queensland Cup
Round 10: April 20, 22-24

Wests Panthers 32
Tries: Jason Bulgarelli 2, Semi Tadula, Shane Hamilton, Mark Eacott, Tom Pritchard
Goals: Brent Webb 4
defeated Wynnum Seagulls 4
Tries: Anthony Choice
Venue: Purtell Park
Date: Thurs April 20

Comments:
Wests capped coach Wayne Treleaven's 100 game in style with this crushing win over the hapless Wynnum Seagulls.  The Panthers raced out to a 16-0 lead in the first half and were never troubled after that by a very ordinary Seagulls outfit.  The win gave Wests their second win of the year while the Seagulls still remain winless after 10 rounds.  Will they win a game this year, I wonder?
Match Report

Easts Tigers 38.
Tries: David Baildon, Campbell McNiven, Matt Bickerstaff, Jamie Tomlinson, Wade Liddell, Mark Mom
Goals: John Wilshere 7
defeated Norths Devils 20
Tries: John Richmond, Steven Bell, Glen Turner, Chris Essex
Goals:
Glen Turner 2
Venue: Bishop Park
Date: Sat April 22
Comments: Easts got off to a slow start and let the Devils get out to a 16-0 lead after 20 minutes.  However, the Tigers got their act together to tie up the game 16 all at the half-time break.  Norths came out and scored the first try but their opponents dominated the rest of the game from that point onwards.  Easts amassed 20 points in the remaining 20 minutes to run out comprehensive victors.  Norths have now lost two games in row and been defeated by Burleigh, Toowoomba, Redcliffe and Easts, a source of concern for coach Mark Murray.  Another worry is the coming of State of Origin which will have a large effect on the Devils. Easts, however, keep cruising along.

Logan City Scorpions 34
Tries: Brett Bowman 2, Phil Shilvock, Brendon Lindsay, Paul Fisher, John Daly, Michael Georgis
Goals: Grant Dutton 3
defeated Souths Magpies 26
Tries: Matt McCosker 2, Brett Stevens, Ben Davidson, Andrew Murdoch
Goals: David Mulhall 3
Venue: Davies Park
Date: Sat April 22
Comments: A good victory by the Scorpions keeps them in touch with the top five.  Logan now sit just outside on equal points with Norths and Burleigh.  The Magpies led 16-12 at half-time but could not go on with the job in the second and let their opponents register an eight point victory.

Burleigh Bears 22
Tries: Irwin Appo, Reggie Cressbrook, Nick Shaw, Darren Anderson, Mark Sessarago
Goals: Reggie Cressbrook
defeated Ipswich Jets 4
Tries: Richard Allwood
Venue: First Provincial Oval
Date:
Sat April 22
Comments: The Bears got off to a slow start before kicking into gear in the second half.  The Jets and Burleigh could not be separated in the first half and it was 4 all at the break.  However, the Bears showed their class and overcame Ipswich to secure a 18 point win.

Redcliffe Dolphins 48
Tries: Trent Leis 4, Craig O'Dwyer 2, Adam Mogg, Ata Isarabhakdi, Damien Richters
Goals: Damien Richters 5, Michael Roberts
defeated Cairns Cyclones 12
Tries: Jason Barsley 2
Goals: Scott Williamson 2
Venue: Dolphin Oval
Date:
Sun April 23
Comments: An easy victory and much improved performance on last week for Redcliffe.  The Dolphins simply outclassed the Cyclones and were never troubled at any stage during the match.  They led 26-6 at half-time and ended up scoring nine tries with winger, Trent Leis, bagging four.  The Dolphins can still improve and will need to if they to overcome the might of the Toowoomba Clydesdales at ANZ on Friday.  Cairns tried their best but were simply not up to the standard of the home side and now remain out right second last on the table.

Toowoomba Clydesdales 34
Tries: Dennis White, Alex Wilson, Adam Warwick, Brad Meyers, Corey Parker, Chris Walker
Goals: Jace Van Dijk 5
defeated Central Queensland Comets 16
Tries: Ken Graham, Clint Rothery, Brad Neven
Goals: Ken Graham 2
Venue: Dalby Sports Ground
Date: Mon April 24
Comments: Toowoomba continue to set the pace in the Bundy Gold Cup with another win against the Comets. Central have now slumped to their fifth loss in a row and are falling off the pace from the finals.
