2000 Queensland Cup
Round 11: April 28-30

Redcliffe Dolphins 18
Tries: James Hinchey, Barry Denduck, Ata Isarabhakdi
Goals: Damien Richters 3
defeated Toowoomba Clydesdales 10
Tries: Danny Bampton, Darren Mapp
Goals:
Jace Van Dijk
Venue: ANZ Stadium
Date: Fri April 28

Comments:
A gutsy and determined effort by Redcliffe saw them overcome the Bundy Gold Cup pace setters, the Toowoomba Clydesdales.  The Dolphins scored the first points through a penalty goal and then went further ahead due to a try to James Hinchey.  Toowoomba, however, hit back due to a superb try to Danny Bampton and trailed 8-6 at the half-time.  Redcliffe came out put on a pile of pressure on the Toowoomba try line straight after the break and were rewarded with a try to Barry Denduck.  They stretched the lead out to 12 points thanks to good try to Ata Isarabhakdi.  The Clydesdales did not give up but it was clear that the home side did not handle the wet and greasy conditions that well with several opportunities going to ground.  A try to Darren Mapp was not enough as the gritty Redcliffe defence held the Clydesdales at bay.  Toowoomba still remain at the top of the table due to a massive for-and-against differential but have showed that they are not completely invincible.

Burleigh Bears 28
Tries: Reggie Cressbrook 2, Dean Allen, Grant Adamson, Nick Shaw
Goals: Reggie Cressbrook 4
defeated Central Queensland Comets 14
Tries: Clint Rothery, Justin Loomans, Heath Eggleston
Goals:
Ken Graham
Venue: Pizzey Park
Date: Sat April 29
Comments: A very scrappy game with both sides making plenty of handling errors as they struggled acclimatise to the wet conditions.  Central, in the opening minutes, held onto the ball extremely well and raced out to a 8-0 lead. Burleigh, however, dominated the rest of the half and put on 16 points as the Comets' handling fell away. The Bears took a 16-8 lead at half-time.  In the second half, it was a matter of who could hold onto the ball with both teams coughing up the ball several times.  It wasn't until the 60th minutes before Burleigh put the result beyond doubt with a try to Cressbrook.  Not even a spectacular try to Heath Egglestone could save the Comets to succumbing to a sixth straight defeat but, really, they had plenty of chances to hit back but suffered from poor ball control.  Burleigh were no better but their class shone through in the end.

Wynnum Seagulls 22
Tries: Matt Fisher, Dallas McIllwain, Ron Troutman, Michael Doyle
Goals: Jay O'Doherty 3
drew with Souths Magpies 22
Tries: Ben Davidson, Darren Lawson, Andrew Murdoch, Michael Jack, Henry Perenara
Goals: David Mulhall
Venue: Kougari Oval
Date: Sat April 29
Comments: Wynnum have got their first points of the season with surprise draw against Souths.  While the Seagulls have yet to register a win, this result do a them a world of confidence.  The Magpies are proving to be inconsistent and a draw against the bottom placed team puts a huge question mark on their chances of making the semi-finals.

Wests Panthers 26
Tries: Aaron Morgan, Paul Mitchell, Semi Tadulala, Shane Hamilton, Mark Eacott, Ben O'Callaghan
Goals: Brent Webb
defeated Cairns Cyclones 12
Tries: Paul Fowler, Ty Williams
Goals: Scott Williamson 2
Venue: Mareeba
Date:
Sat April 29
Comments: Another good win to the Panthers as they defeated the Cairns Cyclones at Mareeba.  The win gives Wests their second victory in a row.

Norths Devils 28
Tries: Ben Cameron, Gus McKellar, Steven Bell, Kevin Carmichael, Brett O'Farrell
Goals: Glen Turner 4
defeated Logan City Scorpions 8
Tries: David Bouveng, Dene Rauchle
Venue: Meakin Park
Date:
Sun April 30
Comments: Norths have come to back to form with an important win over a disappointing Logan.  Staring down the barrel of a three loss in a row, the Devils really needed to win this match as they are set to head into the State of Origin period.  The Scorpions have showed, true to form, that they have not matched it with the top sides and have suffered heavy defeats.  Apparently poor ball control cost the Scorpions dearly.

Ipswich Jets 26
Tries: Richard Allwood 2, Sean Allwood, Kerry Carmichael, Craig Green
Goals: Chris Lawler 3
defeated Easts Tigers 16
Tries: Brooke Martin, John Wilshere, Jeff Doyle
Goals: John Wilshere 2
Venue: Langlands Park
Date: Sun April 30
Comments: A big upset! Ipswich, who have been inconsistent through-out the year, pulled off a very good win against Easts, who have been in great form of late.  And to do at the Tigers' home ground was a even bigger feat. The Jets now lay just outside the the top 5 and can really challenge the top sides with wins like this.  The Tigers fall a spot to third place on the table but will no doubt bounce back next week.
