2000 Queensland Cup
Round 2: February 26, 27

Logan City Scorpions 20
Tries: Sean Ireland 2, Damien Durnford, John Daly
Goals: Scott Dunshea 2
defeated Central Queensland Comets 12
Tries: Wade Rothery, Justin Loomans
Goals: Ken Graham 2
Venue: Meakin Park
Date: Sat February 26

Comments:
Another good win to the Scorpions over quality opposition. Logan have got off to a great start with two wins.

Easts Tigers 30
Tries: Brooke Martin 3, David Baildon, John Wilshere
Goals: John Wilshere 5
defeated Burleigh Bears 18
Tries: Aaron Douglas 2, Martin Kelly
Goals: Martin Kelly 3
Venue: Pizzey Park
Date: Sat February 26
Comments: Burleigh continued their shaky start to the season by going down to the Tigers at home. The Bears led 12-10 at half-time but were swamped by Easts in the second to go down by 12 points.

Ipswich Jets 37
Tries: Andrew Hamilton 2, Chris Lawler 2, Francis Renouf, Brian McCarthy, Danny McAllister
Goals: Chris Lawler 4
Field Goals: Craig Green
defeated Wynnum Seagulls 26
Tries: Matt Fisher 2, David Seage, John Plath, Ron Troutman
Goals: Jay O'Doherty 3
Venue: Kougari Oval
Date: Sat February 26
Comments: The Jets would be delighted in this win over the struggling Seagulls

Norths Devils 52
Tries: Peter Robinson 2, Wade Fenton 2, Elton Seeto, Steve Bell, Andrew Duncan, Matt Dux, Daniel Hill, Liam Tallon
Goals: Elton Seeto 4, Liam Tallon 2
defeated Cairns Cyclones 10
Tries: Leon Yeatman, Jason Barsley
Goals: Scott Williamson
Venue: Bishop Park
Date:
Sun February 27
Comments: While the Devils' NRL affiliate side, the Melbourne Storm, have failed to register a win yet, Norths are doing the opposite and are sitting pretty on top of the Qld Cup table. This game was supposed to have been played at Barlow Park but was moved to Bishop Park due to the storms in Cairns. The match was always going to be a matter of how much the Devils would win by and they did it easily against the Cyclones.

Toowoomba Clydesdales 58
Tries: Chris Walker 7, Dennis White, Kerrod Walters, Carl Webb
Goals: Jace Van Dijk 8, Adam Warwick
defeated Wests Panthers 6
Tries: Mark Eacott
Goals: Nathan Bourke
Venue: Athletic Oval
Date:
Sun February 27
Comments: The Clydesdales thrashed the woeful Wests and centre Chris Walker scored an amazing seven tries in the match. Toowoomba are looking great and, if they keep up performances like that, then they will be a serious premiership threat. Wests, on the other hand, could be in for a long season.

Souths Magpies 20
Tries: Lee Oudenryn, Francis Meli, Matt McCosker, Andrew Murdoch
Goals: David Mulhall 2
defeated Redcliffe Dolphins 10
Tries: Trent Leis, Luke Scott
Goals: Damien Richters
Venue: Dolphin Oval
Date: Sun February 27
Comments: Two weeks into the competition and Souths have already bettered last year's effort of one win. The Magpies are showing that they are quality opposition and a win over last year's grand finalists will only boost their morale even higher. Redcliffe continue to get off to a slow start and it doesn't get any better when they face the red hot Devils away, next week.
