Toowoomba Clydesdales 48
Tries: Corey Parker 2, Dennis White 2, Justin Hodges, Adam Warwick, Chris Walker, Alex Wilson, Michael Ryan
Goals: Jace Van Dijk 3, Paul Warwick 3
defeated Burleigh Bears 24
Tries: Ian Graham 2, Grant Adamson, Aaron Douglas
Goals:
David Parker 3, Darren Anderson
Venue: ANZ Stadium
Date: Sat July 22

Comments:
Toowoomba have sounded out an ominous warning to the rest of the top 5 sides with a 24 point dismissal of current premiers Burleigh. The Clydesdales just proved too strong for the Bears, who had a day to forget. Toowoomba got off to a great start when Justin Hodges brushed off a few defenders and scored a try just after 2 minutes. A few moments later, Hodges set up another try when he put Dennis White into a gap and he sprinted 80 metres for the try. Burleigh hit back with captain Grant Adamson scoring a great individual try but Toowoomba took a 20-8 lead at half-time with tries to Adam Warwick and Corey Parker. Things got worse for the Bears, directly after the break, when a mistake led to Corey Parker's second try, who was having a wow of a game. Then Chris Walker finished off a superb team try minutes later and the Clydesdale were basically home. The two sides went tit for tat for try for the remaining 30 minutes and Toowoomba rounded off a perfect performance with a Michael Ryan try right on fulltime. After this performance, the Bears have a lot of work to do if they are to retain the Bundy Gold Cup trophy. They are now pitted against Norths in a elimination semi-final at Pizzey Park. Toowoomba now face Easts in what should be a very good game.

Souths Magpies 28
Tries: Nathan Squassoni 2, Darren Lawson 2, Ross Chatfield
Goals: Andrew Murdoch 4
defeated Cairns Cyclones 20
Tries:
Tim Kopp 2, Victor Akiba, Lama Ahmat
Goals: Scott Williamson 2
Venue: Stan Williams Park
Date: Sun July 23
Comments: The Magpies finished off their season with a win over Cairns at Stan Williams Park, the home of Cairns Brothers in the CDRL. However, they were tested by the home side and narrowly got home with an 8 point win. Cairns, in what has been a miserable season for them, put in a gritty and determined performance but could not get over the line at the end of the day.

Ipswich Jets 30
Tries: Ross Mitchell, Richard Allwood, Andrew Hamilton, Danny McAllister, Russell Bussian
Goals: Chris Lawler 5
defeated Logan City Scorpions 28
Tries: Sean Ireland 2, Phil Shilvock, Terry O'Regan, Dene Rauchle, David Tuqiri
Goals: Grant Dutton, Brendan Lindsay
Venue: Meakin Park
Date: Sun July 23
Comments: The Jets continued their good end-of-season run with a win over home side Logan. Unfortunately for them, this match had no bearing on the semi-finals and they will have to be happy with sixth spot, instead. The Scorpions actually scored 6 tries to Ipswich's 5 but poor goal kicking ultimately cost them the game.

Redcliffe Dolphins 50
Tries: Rod West 2, Damien Richters 2, Adam Mogg, Duncan Naawi, Trent Leis, Luke Scott, Trent Purdon
Goals: Damien Richters 7
defeated Wests Panthers 22
Tries: Nathan Anderson, Nathan Webber, Brent Webb, Tom Pritchard
Goals: Nathan Webber 3
Venue: Dolphin Oval
Date:
Sun July 23
Comments: Redcliffe rounded off the preliminary rounds with a very comfortable win over Wests at home. The Dolphins now have the first week off in the semi-finals and will face the winner of Easts/Toowoomba at Dolphin Oval, the following week. The home side put on 4 quick tries and were scoring at will, racing out to a 24-0 lead. However, they dropped off in intensity and let the Panthers in for 2 soft tries before half-time. Redcliffe started the second half in similar fashion to the first, scoring 4 tries which include a brilliant effort from Adam Mogg who beat several Wests defenders and sprinted down the field before Richters finished off the try. But, again, the home side slackened off a bit and Brent Webb and Tom Pritchard scored tries for Wests. However, they brought up the 50 right on fulltime when Trent Purdon went over the line and Richters (a personal tally of 22 points for the day) converted the try to take out the game very easily. It was an unhappy day for the Panthers (and Cameron Roper, who was retiring after this match) and ends what has been a very disappointing season.

Easts Tigers 48
Tries: Brett McPherson 2, Mark Mom 2, John Wilshere, Des Clark, Aseri Laing, George Gatis, Scott Sipple
Goals: John Wilshere 6
defeated Central Queensland Comets 26
Tries: Justin Loomans, Scott Minto, Heath Egglestone, Namila Davuie, Sime Busby
Goals: Graham White 2, Ken Graham
Venue: Langlands Park
Date:
Sun July 23
Comments: Easts have wrapped up second place and have a home semi-final next week with a very good win against Central. The Tigers now face the Clydesdales, who have come off a comfortable win over Burleigh, which will result in a very interesting match. Unfortunately for the Comets, a much improved season on last year has come to a sour end and they were simply no match for the home side, which had more to play for on the day.

Norths Devils 32
Tries: Fifita Moala 3, Steven Bell 3
Goals: Marty Turner 4
defeated Wynnum Seagulls 28
Tries: Dallas McIllwain 2, Grant Benson, Jason Keough, Gareth Turton
Goals: Dallas McIllwain 4
Venue: Kougari Oval
Date: Sun July 23
Comments: Wynnum almost caused the upset of the season but went down to Norths by 4 points at home. Seagulls' captain and ex-Bronco John Plath, who is retiring, couldn't go out in style and the Devils scraped home in the end. Fifita Moala and Steven Bell scored all of Norths' tries, grabbing three a piece. The Devils now face Burleigh away and will have a very tough assignment ahead of them. Meanwhile for Wynnum, it hasn't been the best of years for them and finish second last on the ladder.
