2000 Queensland Cup
Round 3: March 4, 5

Easts Tigers 24
Tries: Brooke Martin 2, John Wilshere, Scott Thorburn, Scott Neilson
Goals: John Wilshere 2
defeated Toowoomba Clydesdales 18
Tries: Chris Walker, Ashley Harrison, Kirk Reynoldson
Goals: Jace Van Dijk 3
Venue: Langlands Park
Date: Sat March 4

Comments:
Easts celebrated the unveiling of the re-vamped Langlands Park with a good win over the Clydesdales.  There was nothing between the two sides in the first half and the score 12-12 all at the break.  The Tigers skipped away to a 24-12 lead before Toowoomba made a comeback, and had a chance to tie the game up in the final minutes.  But, Easts held on for a six point win.
Match report

Redcliffe Dolphins 30
Tries: Glen Air 2, Damien Richters, Ata Isarabhakdi, Shane Sanderson
Goals: Michael Roberts 5
defeated Norths Devils 24
Tries: Peter Robinson 2, Brad Watts, Fifita Moala, Andrew Duncan
Goals: Brad Watts 2
Venue: Bishop Park
Date: Sat March 4
Comments: Good win to Redcliffe over high fliers Norths.  The Dolphins led 18-8 at half-time and held out against a mistake ridden Devils.  Although the Dolphins led start to finish, they were never assumed of victory and Norths always looked threatening at times especially out wide.  However, it was the goal kicking of Michael Roberts which won the game for Redcliffe.
Match report

Burleigh Bears 28
Tries: Jamie Mahon, Martin Kelly, Jim Lenihan, Nick Shaw, Aaron Douglas
Goals: Martin Kelly 4
defeated Logan City Scorpions 6
Tries: Grant Dutton
Goals: Grant Dutton
Venue: Pizzey Park
Date: Sat March 4
Comments: The Bears have registered their first win for the year after beating Logan comfortably.  Burleigh had lost halves combination of Craig Freer and Grant Adamson to injury before the match started but overcome that loss to post a victory against the Scorpions.

Central Queensland Comets 40
Tries: Darren Atkinson 2, Wade Rothery, Ian Dunemann, Kere Parata, Ash Dowie, Aaron Farrar, Sime Busby
Goals: Ken Graham 4
defeated Wynnum Seagulls 24
Tries: Matt Fisher 2, Lance Cronk, Ricky Taylor
Goals: Jay O'Doherty 4
Venue: Marley Brown Oval
Date:
Sat March 4
Comments: Totally predictable result as the Comets easily defeated the hapless Wynnum Seagulls in Gladstone.  In fact, the result would have more embarrassing for Wynnum had Comets goal kicker, Ken Graham, kicked better.

Ipswich Jets 20
Tries: Darren Smeath, Adam Hutchison, Anthony Fowler, Stephen Boothby
Goals: Chris Lawler 2
defeated Cairns Cyclones 14
Tries: Tim Kopp, Clint Zammit, Steven Singleton
Goals: Scott Williamson
Venue: First Provincial Oval
Date:
Sat March 4
Comments: Ipswich did not have it all their way in the match against cellar dwellers, Cairns.  The Cyclones whipped a storm in the first half, leading 14-4 at the break.  But games are not won in one half of football and inexperienced Cairns were swamped by the Jets in the second, to lose the game by 6 points.

Souths Magpies 16
Tries: Michael Jack, Troy Clarkson, Ben Davidson
Goals: David Mulhall 2
defeated Wests Panthers 4
Tries: Mark Eacott
Venue: Davies Park
Date: Sun March 5
Comments: Souths are the only unbeaten side in the Bundy Gold Cup after the win against Wests.  The Panthers put in a much improved performance in this match but it still wasn't enough to secure the victory. Trailing 4-0 at the break, Souths had the fire power to outlast Wests 16-4.
