2000 Queensland Cup
Round 4: March 10-12

Toowoomba Clydesdales 40
Tries: Michael Ryan 2, Craig Frawley, Alex Wilson, Ashley Harrison, Corey Parker, Neale Wyatt
Goals: Jace Van Dijk 6
defeated Souths Magpies 12
Tries: Henry Faafili, Francis Meli
Goals: David Mulhall 2
Venue: Athletic Oval
Date: Fri March 10

Comments:
Souths previously unbeaten record has come to a crushing halt at Athletic Oval, with the Clydesdales stomping all over the Magpies.  Toowoomba led 12-0 at half-time and went on with it in the second, sending out a warning that they are definite contenders for the 2000 Bundy Gold Cup.

Norths Devils 32
Tries: Kevin Carmichael 3, Matt Dux 2, Brad Watts
Goals: Brad Watts 4
defeated Wests Panthers 22
Tries: Aaron Morgan 2, Jason Bulgarelli, John Bruce, Daniel Hoppe
Goals: Shane Hamilton
Venue: Purtell Park
Date: Sat March 11
Comments: Norths had full control of the game but were made to work hard for the victory.  Just when the Devils were set to run away with the game, Wests constantly stuck back to get within a few points of the lead. However, the Devs did just enough to put the game out of the Panthers reach and secure the win.

Easts Tigers 28
Tries: Paul Hubbard 2, David Baildon, Brooke Martin, Brett McPherson
Goals: John Wilshere 4
defeated Logan City Scorpions 6
Tries: Dene Rauchle
Goals: Grant Dutton
Venue: Meakin Park
Date: Sat March 11
Comments: Logan continue their slide down the table with this loss to the Tigers.  The Scorpions are still not in the same class as the top teams and, if they are any hope of making the finals, must perform better against the higher placed teams.  Easts, however, continue on their merry way with the 22 point victory.

Burleigh Bears 30
Tries: Darren Anderson 2, Jamie Mahon, Aaron Douglas, Dean Allen, Shane O'Flanagan
Goals: Reggie Cressbrook 3
defeated Wynnum Seagulls 14
Tries: David Seage, Matt Fisher, Trevor Exton
Goals: Jay O'Doherty
Venue: Kougari Oval
Date:
Sat March 11
Comments: Wynnum's woeful start to the season continues with another defeat to the Burleigh Bears.  The Bears were too powerful but at least the Seagulls gave it their best.

Central Queensland Comets 20
Tries: Ken Graham, Darren Atkinson, Danny Price, Graham White, Heath Eggleston
defeated Cairns Cyclones 16
Tries: Leon Yeatman, Jason Berg, Neil Stanley
Goals: Scott Williamson 2
Venue: Barlow Park
Date:
Sat March 11
Comments: Central got home in this one due and were lucky not to lose it due to poor goal kicking.  The Comets did not convert any of their five tries and gave the Cyclones a sniff of victory.  Cairns, after two straight narrow losses, must be close to securing their first win of the year.

Redcliffe Dolphins 26
Tries: Trent Leis, Glen Air, Adam Mogg, Rod West
Goals: Michael Roberts 5
defeated Ipswich Jets 16
Tries: Darren Smeath, Jason Twist, Richard Allwood
Goals: Chris Lawler 2
Venue: Dolphin Oval
Date: Sun March 12
Comments: Redcliffe struggled to overcome the Jets at Dolphin Oval.  The Dolphins led 14-6 at half-time and always seem to have the match under control but were scrappy in their effort, as they have been so far this year. They are going to have to do a lot better if they are any hope of beating the top running teams such as Toowoomba and Easts.
