2000 Queensland Cup
Round 5: March 18, 19

Burleigh Bears 38
Tries: Reggie Cressbrook 4, Jim Lenihan, Grant Adamson, Blair Tonkin, Shane O'Flanagan
Goals: Darren Anderson 2, Reggie Cressbrook
defeated Cairns Cyclones 14
Tries: Jason Barsley, Scott Williamson, Steve Singleton
Goals: Brad Coey-Braddon
Venue: Pizzey Park
Date: Sat March 18

Comments:
A game of two halves.  Cairns came out and played superb football to take a 14-4 half-time lead. However, the break turned things around for Burleigh and the Bears piled on 32 unanswered points, with Reggie Cressbrook bagging four tries.  The Bears were their very best in the second half and totally annihilated the Cyclones.

Norths Devils 26
Tries: Brad Watts 2, Fifita Moala, Kevin Carmichael, John Paul Cherry
Goals: Brad Watts 3
defeated Souths Magpies 12
Tries: Troy Clarkson, Matt Lockyer
Goals: David Mulhall 2
Venue: Bishop Park
Date: Sat March 18
Comments: Souths have now lost their second match in row, going down to the Devils.  Norths remain at the top of the table with Toowoomba, Easts and Central.

Toowoomba Clydesdales 32
Tries: Craig Frawley, Danny Bampton, Jace Van Dijk, Damon Keating, Kerrod Walters, Brad Meyers
Goals: Jace Van Dijk 4
defeated Logan City Scorpions 0
Venue: Meakin Park
Date: Sat March 18
Comments: With this result, it is clear that Logan are unable to aim up to the top sides and probably are no chance to make the finals.  The Scorpions were no match for the rampaging Toowoomba Clydesdales, who are setting the competition alive at the moment.

Ipswich Jets 29
Tries: Greg Golder, Francis Renouf, Russell Bussian, Jason Twist, Richard Allwood, Dale Robertson
Goals: Chris Lawler 2
Field Goals: Jason Twist
defeated Wests Panthers 18
Tries: Nathan Webber, Robbie David, Mark Eacott
Goals: Nathan Webber 3
Venue: First Provincial Oval
Date:
Sat March 18
Comments: Good win to the Jets against the winless Wests Panthers.  The win puts Ipswich just out of the top 5 on for and against while Wests continue to languish at the bottom of the table.

Central Queensland Comets 12
Tries: Darren Atkinson
Goals: Ken Graham 3, Danny Price
defeated Redcliffe Dolphins 6
Tries: Rob Campbell
Goals: Michael Roberts
Venue: Browne Park
Date:
Sat March 18
Comments: Central were always capable of a victory against Redcliffe and, surely enough, they pulled off a 6 point win.  The Comets are showing that they are a totally different outfit from last year and are looking like a possible contender for the semi-finals.  The Dolphins, however, are looking shaky and their assignment doesn't get any easier as they face Burleigh and Easts in the following weeks.

Easts Tigers 26
Tries: David Baildon 2, Brooke Martin, John Wilshere, Scott Thorburn
Goals: John Wilshere 3
defeated Wynnum Seagulls 24
Tries: David Seage 2, Matt Fisher, John Plath, Ricky Taylor
Goals: Jay O'Doherty 2
Venue: Langlands Park
Date: Sun March 19
Comments: Wynnum almost caused the boil over of the season when they pushed Easts to the limit. The Tigers were leading 26-14 with 10 minutes to go, when the Seagulls scored two quick tries
