Venue: Davies Park
Date: Sat May 19
Comments: East Coast managed to hold
off a gallant Souths outfit to record a 17-14 win at
Davies Park. The game came to an exciting climax
when the Magpies had the chance to win the match,
after the Tigers seemingly looked to have the match
totally wrapped up with a 7 point lead. But the
home side were unable to score the match winning try
and the visitors, after being held scoreless in the
first half, escaped with a very unconvincing win.

Comments: Ipswich and Wynnum have played out
a draw at Bendigo Bank Park. The Seagulls' three

great try scoring form, but managed to get their
second draw of the season.

Venue: Alan McIndoe Park,
Emerald
Date:
Sat May 19
Comments: Burleigh has continued the
Comets' miserable season with a solid win up in
Emerald. Central only trailed their opposition
by 6 points, with 7 minutes remaining, and were in
attack but they ended up allowing the Bears to score
two more tries, while trying to go for the draw.
Burleigh scored 8 tries with Jim
Lenihan and Ryan Gundry grabbing two apiece but their
defence is still needs a bit of working on. The
Comets are now last on the table, thanks to Wests' bye
this weekend.
Toowoomba
Clydesdales 18
Tries: Paul
Carige 2, Ken McGuinness, Stuart Kelly
Goals: Damien

defeated Redcliffe
Dolphins 12
Tries: Phil
Graham
Goals: Damien
Richters 4
Venue: ANZ Stadium
Date: Sun May 20
Comments: Toowoomba have gained a
little revenge on last year's grand final loss to
Redcliffe with a 6 point win at ANZ Stadium. The
Dolphins dominated possession early in the first half
and Phil Graham finally sliced the defence open to
score the first try of the match. Damien
Richters extended their lead to 8-0 but Toowoomba
eventually struck back with tries to Paul Carige and
Ken McGuinness to put Toowoomba in front 10-8.
That appeared to be the half-time score until the
Clydesdales conceded a penalty and Richters added the
conversion to make it 10-all at the break.
Damien Richters kicked another penalty goal to put
Redcliffe in front again but, from that point onwards,
they virtually let the game slip away with their
errors. Dolphin winger Trent Purdon made a
horrible mistake when he knocked on the ball in
Redcliffe's half and the Clydesdale pounced on that
opportunity with Stuart Kelly eventually scored the
try. More unforced errors came from the Dolphins
and Toowoomba eventually scored another try with Paul
Carige grabbing his second try in the 69th
minute. Redcliffe never looked like
getting past the solid Clydesdales' defence and ended
up registering their first loss of the season.
Toowoomba are unbeaten after the first half of the
season and are looking specials to win this year's
competition.

Turner 2
Field Goals: Marty
Turner
defeated Logan City Scorpions 10
Tries: Phil
Shilvock, Brendan Currie
Goals: Brad
Sim
Venue: Bishop Park
Date: Sun May 20
Comments: Norths have won a hard
fought match over Logan in wet and miserable
conditions. Talented young half Marty Turner
paved the way for a Devils' win with a personal tally
of 13 points (2 tries, 2 goals and a field goal).
