Date: Sat June 2
Comments: The Burleigh Bears have managed
to just hang on and record a 18-16 win over East Coast
at Pizzey Park on Saturday. East Coast came out in the
first half with all guns blazing and managed to jump
out to a 10-0 lead after 17 minutes. However, as it
has been all year, the Tigers blew many more
opportunities and should have been leading by a
greater margin at half-time than the 10-6 lead they
took in.

Venue: Bishop Park
Date: Sun June 3
Comments: The Toowoomba Clydesdales
have avoided their first defeat of the season when
they scored two tries in the last 10 minutes of the
match to grab a 18-all draw with Norths at Bishop
Park. Damien Quinn played a major part in the final
two tries but he wasn't able to convert either try
that would have given the Clydesdales the win.
The match proved to be an arm wrestle and Norths stuck
it up their highly fancied opponents. The Devils led
10-4 at half-time and were looking a real chance to
snatch an upset when they scored 2 tries to be up
18-10, with 20 minutes remaining.
The Clydesdales looked flat for most of the match but
suddenly came alive in the final minutes. Quinn scored
out wide to narrow the lead to 4 points and cut
through the Devils' defence again, just moments later,
before allowing Casey McGuire to score the equalizer.
Unfortunately for the winger, he wasn't able to kick
the winning conversion and the game ended up in a
draw.
