Comments:
The Burleigh Bears have sounded out a warning to the rest of the top 5 sides with a 44-10 hammering of a depleted Redcliffe outfit at Dolphin Oval. The Bears led 12-6 at half-time but ran away with the match in the second half.

Wynnum Seagulls 32
Tries: Duncan Naawi, Robbie David, Shaun Hardwick, Daniel Frame, Ben Martin, Scott Tsaousis
Goals: Jay O'Doherty 4
defeated East Coast Tigers 28
Tries: Jason Bulgarelli 2, David Baildon, John Wilshere, Matt Ross
Goals: John Wilshere 3, Scott Thorburn
Venue: Kougari Oval
Date: Sat June 30
Comments: Wynnum has scored a much needed win over East Coast and it keeps their finals aspirations alive.  The Seagulls have suffered a few close defeats in recent years to the Tigers but were able to finally knock over their close rivals.  East Coast are looking very shaky at the moment and they really need to turn things around very quickly.  And their two next games against Redcliffe and Toowoomba are not going to help things.

Toowoomba Clydesdales 64
Tries: Justin Hodges 3, Paul Carige 2, Tony Duggan 2, Nathan Murphy 2, Steve Irwin, Kirk Reynoldson, Michael Coorey
Goals: Justin Hodges 7, Ken McGuinness
defeated Wests Panthers 4
Tries: Steve Franciscus
Venue: Dalby Football Grounds
Date: Sat June 30
Comments: This was nothing more than a stroll in the park for Toowoomba, despite having 5 players out the side on rep duty, against a Panthers outfit who have looked very fragile in defence all season.  In front a big crowd at Dalby, the Clydesdales put on a show for the locals scoring 12 tries.  Justin Hodges, demoted to Toowoomba obviously for match practice, scored 3 tries while Paul Carige, Tony Duggan and Nathan Murphy all grabbed doubles.

Norths Devils 36
Tries: Paul Sheedy 2, Brad Watts, Paul Whaturia, Dallas Johnson, Nick Walker
Goals: Tasesa Lavea 6
defeated Souths Magpies 10
Tries: Tristan Brady-Smith, Matt Lockyer
Goals: Matt Lockyer
Venue: Bishop Park
Date:
Sat June 30
Comments: Norths were always expected to win this game and did so accordingly.  The Devils simply had too much class for the last-placed Magpies.

Ipswich Jets 22
Tries: Faron Anderson 2, Danny Coburn, Danny McAllister
Goals: Francis Renouf 2, Ricky Bird
drew with Central Queensland Comets 22
Tries: Justin Loomans, Scott Minto, Wade Rothery, Namila Davui
Goals: Walson Carlos 3
Venue: Bendigo Bank Oval
Date:
Sat June 30
Comments: It's not what the Jets would have wanted but at least they will take the one point.  I'm sure Ipswich will be a bit delighted at Wynnum upsetting East Coast on the weekend and it leaves them 4 points adrift of the Tigers.  This is the second draw that both sides have had for the season.
