2001 Queensland Cup
Round 22: August 18, 19

Central Queensland Comets 52
Tries: Andrew Schick 3, Wade Rothery 2, Justin Loomans, Jason Barsley, Graham White, Scott Minto, David Smith
Goals: Walson Carlos 5, Graham White
defeated Logan Scorpions 14
Tries: Adam Daly, Nick Meyers, Phil Shilvock
Goals: Brad Sim
Venue: Meakin Park
Date: Sat August 18
Comments: The Central Comets have finished their Bundy Gold Cup season on a high by dismantling Logan 52-14.  The Comets dominated to match from the very start and had the game all wrapped up at half-time when they led 30-0.  Veterans Andrew Schick and Graham White had fantastic matches in what will be their last matches for the Central Qld based side.  Schick grabbed a hat trick of tries and tormented Logan's Herman Lafaele in the second half with his long range kicks while White was just about involved in all the tries that Central put on.

Toowoomba Clydesdales 40

Tries: Damien Quinn, Paul Carige, Tony Duggan, Justin Hodges, Michael Coorey, Damon Keating, Elia Tuqiri
Goals: Damien Quinn 6
defeated Ipswich Jets 26
Tries: Reggie Cressbrook 2, Marshall Chalk, Trent Flood, Faron Anderson
Goals: Trent Flood 3
Venue: Newtown Oval
Date: Sun August 19

Comments:
Toowoomba will have the week off after finishing the preliminary rounds with a 40-26 win over Ipswich.  The Clydesdales won the minor premiership by 6 points over Burleigh and have only lost a solitary game all season.  They will face the winner of the Burleigh/Redcliffe game at Newtown Oval in two week’s time.  The Jets fought back well in the second half, after being down 30-4 at half-time, but were eventually .

Redcliffe Dolphins 42
Tries: Phil Graham 2, Rod West 2, Jason Webber, Michael Roberts, Luke Scott, Barry Denduck
Goals: Michael Roberts 5
defeated Norths Devils 6
Tries: John Paul Cherry
Goals:
Marty Turner
Venue: Dolphin Oval
Date: Sun August 19
Comments: Redcliffe will meet Burleigh in the major semi-final at Pizzey Park next week after comfortably defeating Norths.  The Dolphins, who have struggled for form over the past few weeks, put in a superb performance and never let the Devils into the match at any stage.  The home side led 14-2 at the break and cut loose in the second with 5 tries.  Apart from the attack, Redcliffe put in fine effort in defence and only allowed Norths to cross their line right on the stroke of fulltime.  The Devils will have to regroup from this disappointing performance and try to focus on beating the Tigers in the elimination semi-final, a team they have not beaten this year.

East Coast Tigers 44
Tries: Jason Bulgarelli 3, Martin Allen 2, John Wilshere 2, David Baildon
Goals: John Wilshere 6
defeated Wests Panthers 26
Tries: Terry Proctor 3, Brent Webb, Damon Rehbein
Goals: Marc Fickling 3
Venue: Langlands Park
Date:
Sun August 19
Comments: East Coast, as expected, defeated Wests to finish off the preliminary rounds.  The Tigers now head into a elimination semi-final against Norths at Bishop Park.  Jason Bulgarelli continues his great form of recent weeks with another 3 tries with John Wilshere and Martin Allen also crossed two apiece.  Terry Proctor scored a hat trick of tries for the Panthers and Brent Webb also crossed for one to finish on top of the top try scorers table with 22 tries.

Wynnum Seagulls 34
Tries: David Seage 3, Duncan Naawi, Scott Tsaousis, Robbie David, Nathan Webber
Goals: Nathan Webber 2, Trevor Exton
defeated Souths Magpies 28
Tries: Josh Stowers 2, Tristan Brady-Smith, Matt Lockyer, Scott Huntley
Goals: Matt Lockyer 4
Venue: Kougari Oval
Date:
Sun August 19
Comments: Despite having prop Clayton Maher sent off for a high tackle, the Seagulls managed to overcome the Magpies and finish the season on a bit of a high.  David Seage crossed for three tries to finish on 19 for the year, second on the top try scorers table.
