2001 Queensland Cup
Round 6: April 21, 22

Norths Devils 34
Tries: Paul Sheedy 3, Tai Lavea, Semi Tadulala, Junior Langi, John Paul Cherry, Brooke Martin
Goals: Marty Turner
defeated Central Comets 16
Tries: Justin Loomans, Bert Tabuai, Wade Rothery
Goals: Graham White 2
Venue: Bishop Park
Date: Sat April 21
Comments: An ordinary game of football with the Devils running comfortable winners over a very disappointing Comets outfit.  Central's defensive effort was simply woeful and they really have problems because Norths weren't that impressive either.  The Devils jumped out to 18-0 lead and led 18-4 at half-time.  The Comets staged a bit of a comeback when they got within two points of the lead, after scoring two converted tries after the break.  However, that's as close as they got and Norths ran away with the match to score an easy win.

Wests Panthers 26
Tries: Brent Webb 2, Adam Carne, Jason Gibson, Steve Franciscus
Goals: Marc Fickling 3
defeated Ipswich Jets 20
Tries: Junior Togia, Andrew Hamilton, Jeff Johnson, Darren Jackson
Goals: Reggie Cressbrook 2
Venue: Bendigo Bank Oval
Date: Sat April 21

Comments:
The Panthers have scored a fantastic come-from-behind win against the Ipswich.  The Jets jumped to an early 16-6 lead in the first half but allowed Wests to score a try to peg back the score to 16-10, just before half-time.  Wests played disciplined football in the second half and eventually ran out 6 point victors over a disappointing Ipswich outfit.  It was the Panthers first victory of the season and one that came after that horrible flogging at the hands of Toowoomba.  This is the second time Ipswich have been beaten by a side you would expect them to defeat and this puts a major question mark on their chances of making the semi-finals.

Redcliffe Dolphins 28
Tries: Adam Mogg 2, Michael Roberts, Troy Mitchell, Jason Webber
Goals: Damien Richters 4
defeated East Coast Tigers 8
Tries: John Wilshere
Goals: Scott Thorburn, John Wilshere
Venue: Dolphin Oval
Date: Sun April 22
Comments: Redcliffe remain unbeaten for the season after a commanding win over the East Coast Tigers at home.  A good first half laid the foundation for the victory and saw the Dolphins lead 24-8.  The Tigers never really looked capable of making a come back in the second half and were held at bay by Redcliffe's superb defence.  The only points scored in the second half were by Redcliffe centre Jason Webber in the 61st minute and that virtually wrapped up the game for the defending premiers.  They probably should scored more points but failed to convert some of the opportunities that came their way.  Adam Mogg starred again for the home side with two tries.
